According to Cañizales, the factory has been moved several times because residents of other communities such as Pavia and El Tostao, to the west of Barquisimeto, have protested for the same reason.
“It is from Monday to Saturday, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, that the smoke emanates and that causes asthma, bronchitis, respiratory diseases in children and the elderly,” he commented.
Jugleisy Roas, is the mother of a one-year-old boy with post-covid disease, lung failure and Kawasaki disease, and the smoke that contaminates the community makes it difficult for the infant to recover. She asked the authorities to regulate the operation of this type of company, to go to the site and inspect if the established norms are complied with there.
overflowing sewers
Another problem faced by the residents of Nueva Segovia I and II, is the one referred to a sewage canister that is on Chifón avenue.
Roas recalled that they have had this condition for at least a year, but despite the fact that they have made the complaint three times in hydrolaraThey are still waiting for the engineer Orlando Meza, who received the complaint, to send to check what is happening with the sewer.
The neighbor also told about the difficulty they have in taking the children to school every time it rains, because the flooding of the La Ruezga stream prevents the only passage to get to the institution.
He called on the representatives of the local and regional governments “to take advantage of the summer to clean and channel the channel of the stream, or, at least, build a footbridge so that the children can go to school even when it rains, and they do not have to wait up to three days for the waters to subside and they can pass, “he said.
