Small and medium-sized companies () would lose around S/5.2 billion in the Christmas campaign due to the protests and violence generated within the country, warned the president of the Small Business Guild of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL), Rodolfo Ojeda.

“From our union, we reject the acts of vandalism against private property and State institutions that have been taking place in our country. We call for calm and dialogue to be established. We must find a solution path to safeguard the lives of our compatriots, businesses and companies, ”he said.

The union initially estimated that in this campaign SMEs would bill S/13,000 million, however the events taking place in the country have caused them to change their projection to S/7,800 million.

Among the sectors most affected are those that sell toys, restaurants, hotels, and those that sell clothing, among others.

In addition, he warned that if a solution to the problem is not found, the summer campaign would also be affected, for which they estimate an economic movement of S/3,250 million, and which comprises 25% of the annual production of the py,es –

“Traders are worried because many of them invested all their capital to make a profit this holiday season, but the reality is that they are being hit again,” the CCL representative said.
