The little ones farmers they will be able to receive, through the Catastrophic Agricultural Insurance (SAC), S/800 per hectare affected by climatic and natural phenomena, reported the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri).
The SAC will continue its intervention throughout the country until August 1, 2023, with which it is expected to ensure 1.9 million hectares of crops.
Iván Mena, director of the Directorate of Insurance and Promotion of Agrarian Financing, pointed out that this policy is free, financed 100% with State resources.
“The purpose of the SAC is to support small farmers with limited resources, whose crops are vulnerable to the occurrence of pests, frost, drought, cold weather, fires and other climatic and natural risks,” he said.

The Midagri reported that to access the insurance, the producer has to notify the Agency or Agrarian Office by going to the office or through a call. Subsequently, the accident will be reported to the insurer chosen for the 2022-2023 agricultural campaign.
“Subsequently, the insurance company will designate an operator to carry out the field evaluation and adjustment, within the following 15 business days, and the damages will be evaluated in the presence of an agrarian agent and the adjustment report (evaluation report) will be prepared. ”, he assured.
If the document drawn up indicates a catastrophic loss, the company will coordinate with the Regional Directorate of Agriculture to draw up the registers, within 30 days following the date indicated in the document.
Then the producer will be paid S/800 per hectare of insured crop. The parcels that suffered a total loss will also be compensated, even if the coverage area where they are located did not reach the loss threshold that was previously required for the activation of the SAC.
