A survey carried out by the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae), based on data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged), shows that micro and small enterprises (MPE) expanded in the last month of seaits proportional participation in the generation of new jobs in the country.
According to Sebrae, the segment opened 88.9% of all vacancies in the third month of this year. According to the data, small businesses accounted for more than 1 million admissions and a positive balance of 121,000 jobs.
In the accumulated result for the year, Brazil has already registered a balance of 615 thousand new jobs, with micro and small companies being the main job providers, with 430 thousand vacancies, corresponding to 70% of the total. In turn, the survey indicates that medium and large companies registered a balance of 148 thousand jobs, 24.1% of the total.
When comparing the first quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of this year, the scenarios are relatively similar. “All sizes of companies presented positive balances, and the MSE had results almost three times greater than the medium and large ones”.
Services lead
According to Sebrae, the service sector continues to be the biggest job generator. In March, MSEs in this segment hired 74,255 people, with a total, so far, of 273,698 new jobs in 2022.
In commerce, both MSE and medium and large companies (MGE) had lower employment balances. However, in the accumulated result for the year, medium and large companies were the ones that closed the most jobs: 43,361 thousand dismissals at MGE, against 17,434 at micro and small companies.
