Slowing Longevity by Understanding Genes

There is a theme in life that no one can escape: longevity.

Receiving it in a good way or with fear depends on the belief system, the vehicle to go through the years. Last December 2, the first conference event dedicated to well-being, comprehensive health and longevity was held in Mexico City. “Cracks Wellness and Longevity Summit” which became an extraordinary event, a transformative and enriching experience in the field of wellness.

The most prominent experts in the field presented a topic dedicated to the science and tactics to live 100 years to the full. Some of the speakers, geniuses in the field and with success stories have spoken with El Economista, which is launching its “DeportePlus” edition that will give space to each interview.

The stars of the Wellness & Longevity Summit led by Mexican speaker and business advisor Oso Trava were:

Bruno Ribeiro – Specialist in neuropsychology

“Cognitive health and Pareto’s law: The 80-20 of the brain.”

He addressed longevity from the perspective of neuroscience, touching on issues of neurostimulation and neuroplasticity to maintain cognitive health. Ribeiro shared how meditation, conscious walking and neurostimulation technologies can positively influence brain performance during aging, prioritizing those techniques with a decisive impact to optimize longevity and keep the mind active.

Ale Ponce- Nutritionist and specialist in Comprehensive Wellness from the Tec de Monterrey and Master in Nutrigenomics Sciences and Personalized Nutrition

“Lifestyle Genomics to Live Longer and Better.”

The specialist explained how genetics and lifestyle interrelate to optimize health and promote healthy aging. Advances in epigenetics show how factors such as diet, exercise and emotional well-being can influence genetic expression, helping people live longer and better.

Rodrigo Herrera – Entrepreneur and founder of Genomma Lab

“Escape velocity: countdown to immortality.”

The impact of longevity on the Latin American economy. Herrera explained how to prepare financially for a long and active life, as well as analyzing how economics and innovation can adapt to increasing life expectancies, with the goal of achieving what he describes as “escape velocity” towards full longevity.

Nathaly Marcus – Functional Nutritionist, Expert in Epigenetics and Longevity

“It’s not the stress that kills you, but how you respond to it.”

The role of functional diet and epigenetics in longevity. Marcus explained how proper nutrition and stress management can influence genes, slowing aging. He shared techniques to reverse physical decline and enhance vitality, emphasizing how life choices and environment modify genetic expression and contribute to a healthier life.

Michel Rojkind – Architect and founder of Rojkind Arquitectos and partner of Nayah Studio

“Pro-aging revaluing old age – wisdom and connection in a forgotten era.”

Explored the role of space design in health and well-being. His presentation highlighted how environments can improve mental and emotional health, promoting balance and tranquility. Rojkind advocated for “pro-aging,” a vision that promotes aging as a positive process in an era where design can influence how the wisdom and connection that comes with maturity is valued.

Dr. Mario Martínez – Clinical neuropsychologist

“Longevity at any age – lessons from Centenarians.”

Dr. shared his findings on cultural psychoneuroimmunology, exploring how beliefs and culture influence longevity. Based on his research with centenarians from diverse cultures, Martínez revealed anti-stress and anti-inflammation factors that contribute to longevity beyond genetics, teaching how cultural practices and positive perceptions of age encourage a fuller, longer life.

Dr. Alexander Krouham – Functional Physician and Endocrinologist

“Challenging nature: how to avoid aging.”

He talked about advanced practices to prevent physical aging. Krouham presented methods to delay aging through prevention-focused medicine, using treatments that strengthen the immune system and reduce the degenerative effects of time, empowering attendees to maintain their vitality and well-being.

“Beyond the toast: the new era of human connections.”

They offered insight into innovation in the functional beverage market. They discussed the rise of alcohol-free products and sustainability, highlighting how the beverage industry adapts to a conscious lifestyle and promotes social connections in a wellness environment, offering alternatives that reflect a shift towards holistic health and balance.

Alan Abruch- Founder and Director of Sõoth, clinics specialized in rehabilitation, physical therapy and pain. Master in neurosciences from the University of King’s College London and member of the Institute of Psychiatry, Neurosciences and Psychology

“Smarter, stronger and pain-free”.

Its mission is to empower people to take charge of their health and connect well-being with happiness. Genes are the programming, but lifestyle habits make it possible for them to remain silenced.
