The XII South American Games already gave their first medals on the second day of competitions. Disciplines such as roller skating, cross-country cycling and skateboarding defined the first podiums.
The first of the competitions to finish was the 200-meter skating race. In women, Sheila Muñoz from Colombia was crowned the winner, followed by María Moya from Chile and María Arías from Ecuador.
In the men’s category, the winner was Emanuelle Silva from Chile followed by athletes Steven Villegas and Jhon Tascon from Colombia.
Paraguay was represented by José Moncada. The skating competitions continue this afternoon with the men’s and women’s 1,000-meter race, where national athletes Julio Mirena, Andrea Maciel and José Moncada will compete.
In cross-country cycling, a competition held in the city of Encarnación, Raiza Goulao and Gustavo Oliveira from Brazil took first place in the women’s and men’s competitions, respectively.
For Paraguay, Samira Martínez, Lucas Bogado and Esteban Portillo participated in the competition.
In women’s skateboard street, the gold and silver medals went to Gabriela Pereira and Karla Dos Santos from Brazil, and third place went to Jazmín Alvárez from Colombia. In men’s street, Deivid Tuesta from Peru, Jhan González from Colombia and Joao Alves from Brazil, occupied the podium.
