Giovanni Vianna, 23, from São Paulo, did his best in the last lap of the men’s final of the Sydney (Australia) stage of the Street Skateboarding World League (Street League Skateboarding-SLS) in the early hours of this Sunday (13). Current world champion Giovanni scored 9.6 in one maneuver, and jumped from fourth to second position, winning the silver medal, scoring 35.9 points. The gold went to the Japanese Sora Shirai (36.7 points) and the bronze to the North American Chris Joslin (35.8).

The women’s race featured Olympic medalist Rayssa Leal, who was left off the podium. The winner was the host Chloe Covell, who scored 31.8 points and completing the podium were the Japanese Liz Akama (29.1) and Funa Nakayama (27.4), who took silver and bronze, respectively. Rayssa (23.8) ended the competition in fourth place. finished in fourth position. The Brazilian, two-time street world champion, continued with chances of a podium until the last lap, but ended up being overtaken by Nakayama. which scored 8.7 in its last presentation, placing third.
The last regular stage that scores in the World League will take place in Tokyo (Japan), on November 23rd. At the moment, both Giovanni Vianna and Rayssa Leal are capable of competing for the world title – the São Paulo native leads the men’s ranking and Rayssa occupies third place in the women’s ranking.
The decision for the 2024 skate street season, the Super Crown Championship, will take place at Ginásio do Ibirapuera, in São Paulo, on December 14th and 15th.
