A relative of the congressman Wilson Soto He was wounded by a gunshot after an assault in a restaurant in Villa María del Triunfo. This is his nephew, a minor under 6 years old, who was in the company of the politician’s brother-in-law.
Soto indicated in a conversation with Canal N that the little boy is in a hospital being treated by doctors to find out his condition.
“In the capital we can no longer go out to dinner, to eat, with the family. Unfortunately that is what is happening in Peru,” commented the congressman.
Official statement from Wilson Soto:
Today, while part of my wife’s family was in a restaurant in Villa María del Triunfo, some criminals broke in and shot people. Unfortunately, one of the bullets hit a nephew of mine, a minor. At this time, he is receiving the necessary medical attention, awaiting investigations and evaluating the legal actions to follow.
It is unfortunate that in our country no one feels safe.
We have been pointing this out insistently in recent days: crime has surpassed our security capacity and is putting the lives of all Peruvians at constant risk. This incident is just one more example of the urgency of taking strong and decisive actions in the fight against crime. We cannot allow these events to continue.
I appreciate, on behalf of my family, the expressions of solidarity and support that we have received through calls and messages. In these difficult times, your support is invaluable.
