Six recommendations to make a company a good place to work

The motivations for deciding where to work have changed, which means new challenges for organizations seeking to attract talent. The pandemic has taught us that, for example, it is possible to be productive from home, having the office as a collaboration center.

According to Arnaldo Rivera, manager of Human Capital and Administration of izipay – which in the 2022 edition of the Great Place to Work is ranked among the eight best companies to work for – it is crucial that employers offer full compensation (monetary and emotional), adapting to this new context, constantly updating its value proposition, in order to continue to be considered an attractive employment option.

In addition, the specialist pointed out other points that must be taken into account to make a company a good place to work.

  • High performance: The first responsibility of every boss is to meet the objectives of his team. To be efficient, he must ensure that his employees have the right talents, the necessary resources and timely feedback. By achieving high group performance, a good working environment will simply be a consequence.
  • Support the key pieces: Human Resources periodically monitors the company’s work environment, identifying the managers with the greatest opportunity for improvement in people management. It is on them that we must focus, training them and accompanying them in the implementation of best practices.
  • Be flexible: Flexibility can be given in the schedule, the place of work and in the hours off, as long as they do not compromise the deliverables of the unit. This is an aspect that employees value highly and allows them to build an optimal working day, which significantly influences their well-being, stress management and productivity.
  • Meet your collaborators: To have a better work environment, extra actions such as fellowship activities always help, but as long as they respond to the needs of the collaborators. “You have to be sure that they value this type of activity, which is why it is important to carry out surveys after each event held to know and measure satisfaction levels.“, said.
  • Encourage direct communication: Even working remotely, it should be encouraged that all bosses generate proximity with collaborators, through direct communication using WhatsApp groups and individual chats, in addition to mail, calls and, if possible, face-to-face meetings.
  • Clear rules, no exceptions: At an organizational level, justice is establishing rules that everyone understands and that apply to everyone. If we find a special case then we must adjust the rule and not make exceptions.

In this sense, Rivera assured that each company must be constantly updated to keep up with the changing demands of its collaborators. “It is necessary to work focused not only on being a good place to work, but on the best. And we’ll make it by changing what doesn’t make sense”, he pointed out.
