A helicopter from the Minas Gerais Fire Department crashed this Friday (12) in the region of the city of Ouro Preto. According to the corporation, six people died, including four firefighters, a doctor and a nurse from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu).
The aircraft had moved to the location to respond to an incident involving a single-engine plane that had crashed. After losing contact with air traffic control, the corporation began searching for the missing crew members and, after 12 hours of work, they were found dead in a mountainous region of the municipality. Around 80 people participated in the searches.
In a statement released on social media, the Fire Department reported that it is committed to the work of rescuing the bodies. The causes of the accident will be investigated.
Consternation
“Due support to family members is being provided by psychologists. The entire corporation dawns appalled and resilient in its mission with its brothers in uniform”, declared the Fire Department.
Through social media, the governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema, expressed solidarity with the family.
“I deeply regret the tragic loss of the four Fire Department soldiers and two rescuers, victims of an accident while carrying out their noble rescue mission in Ouro Preto. My solidarity and prayers are with their family and friends at this very difficult time”, he stated Zema.
