Six members of the Clan del Golfo were arrested in Táchira

Six people linked to the Clan del Golfo, classified as the largest narco-paramilitary gang in Colombia, were arrested in Táchira, according to information provided by police sources.

The arrest of the six occurred in the house marked with the number 5-136, located in Carrera 8, Pedro María Ureña municipality, border between Táchira and Cúcuta, Colombia.

A commission from the Directorate of Strategic and Tactical Actions of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) arrived at the aforementioned site, who identified the detainees of Colombian nationality as Jhon Carlos Jiménez Duran (30), Yeikson Alberto Suarez Sánchez (29), Jesús Reiner Delgado Fuentes (43), Esteban González Cacua (53), Óscar Ali Mendoza Sierra (40) and Ana Jesusa Gutiérrez Delgado (52).

Four panelas of cocaine with an approximate gross weight of 4 kilos were seized from the detainees; 6 cell phones, 1 portable radio, a motorcycle and 2 vehicles, one of them with a Colombian license plate.

According to the interrogations and the information processed by the PNB, the group bears the name of Los Tibu, a cell of the Clan del Golfo, which operates in the Cúcuta-Ureña border area, the source said.

The Public Ministry was notified of the procedure.

The PNB continues the deployment to locate other cells associated with the Clan del Golfo, who have been occupying sectors of the border municipalities, including Ureña and San Antonio del Táchira.
