An explosion of artificial mortars left six men injured early this Saturday – two in critical condition, two seriously and two with minor injuries – during the start of the parties in the town of Guayos, in Cabaiguán.
According to the newspaper Escambraythe accident, whose causes are still being investigated by the Ministry of the Interior, occurred in an area designated for fireworks near the House of Culture.
Those affected, between 30 and 50 years old, were initially treated at the Guayos polyclinic and immediately transferred to the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial General Hospital by the Integrated Medical Emergency System, where they were admitted around 6:00 am and receive multidisciplinary care in the Caumatology Room, Dr. Tatiana Hernández González told the press.
This is not the first time accidents of this type have occurred. in these festivities. In May 2018, two men ended up in extremely critical condition due to serious burns suffered due to an accident with fireworks at the traditional Camajuaní parties, which represented the third similar event reported in that area of the island. in the last three months of that year.
This accident was added to two other fatal accidents involving fireworks that occurred in the popular parrandas celebrations in Remedios and Zulueta, both towns in Villa Clara, resulting in numerous serious injuries.
