In a joint decision with the Government and the National Superintendence of Healththe intervened EPS have announced a savings plan for more than $ 4,380 millionwith the aim of optimizing resources and strengthening health care of more than 24 million members.

The entities involved to this extent include New EPS, Sanitas, SOS and Famisanar in the contributory regime, as well as coosalud and capresoca of the subsidized guildboth belonging to health. As part of this plan, these EPS have decided to withdraw from the Colombian Association of Companies of Integral Medicine (ACEMI), which will “contribute” to the redistribution of resources for the benefit of medical care.
The central purpose of this initiative is to guarantee a more efficient use of funds, reducing administrative costs and focusing resources on the improvement of the health service.

“We seek to stabilize finance and allocate these savings to improve the provision of medical services, thus strengthening citizens’ confidence in the health system“said the statement of the EPS involved.
The savings plan also contemplates a series of structural strategies designed to address the problems that motivated the intervention of these EPS. Among them, The expansion and strengthening of care networks in high population density networks are foundthe improvement in the early detection of cancer diseases in collaboration with the National Institute of Cancer and the strengthening of primary care through primary health care centers (CAPS).

According to the data revealed in the financial report of these entities, the total projected annual savings sum amounts to $ 4,380 million. For example, New EPS, Sanitas, SOS and Famisanar will register individual annual savings of approximately $ 459 million each, while Coosalud will reach a savings of $ 1 billion and capresoca of $ 164 million. Together, these resources will improve infrastructure and the provision of health services in the country.
