“I totally disagree with that commercial because I know the reality of Cuba, because I know the reality of many Cuban mothers,” said the actress.
Rivero assured that, as a family, it was a very delicate situation.
“For me it is very complicated, because Tahimí Alvariño is my sister, more than my sister, she is my friend, she is my second mother, she is one of the most important people in my life, but obviously, that commercial seems horrible to me,” he added.
Jean-Michel Fernandezhusband of María Karla Rivero and host of the space Maka’s houserecalled that Hugo Cancio, the businessman behind Katapulk, is recognized not only for his business dealings with the Cuban regime, but also for defrauding many Cubans.
Fernández recalled that Cancio was the producer of the remembered film Sapphires, blue madnessfrom 1997, and that ended up scamming several of the actors who participated in the film.
“Hugo Cancio is a despicable being. This is the guy who runs Katapulk and who contacts Tahimí to do this commercial,” he pointed out.
