Single Dialogue Table hopes to finalize electricity issue today

The Vice Minister of Labor and Workforce Development, Roger Tejada Bryden, negotiator and government spokesman before the Single Dialogue Table, said that he is optimistic that the parties represented in that instance of dialogue can finalize this Thursday, August 4, the second stage of discussion of the last four points established on the agenda and where, on the issue of reducing electricity, popular organizations proposed the nationalization of generation companies.

Since yesterday, Wednesday, August 3, the Single Dialogue Table began to analyze the electricity proposal that contains a total of 18 points, of which 15 were reached by consensus, leaving 3 pending that will be reviewed today between the alliances that make up the Table with the government team, headed by the Minister of Labor, Doris Zapata, technical secretary of the dialogue accompanied by the technical team, specialist in the matter.

Tejada pointed out that last night the national government established that there is currently a 50% subsidy on the entire bill and that it represents the most important relief support in the region, which results in an electricity rate below the reasonable prices that it has. Colombia, Costa Rica and other countries of Central and South America.

Regarding the request to nationalize the generation of electricity, the Vice Minister of Labor assured that the State does not have the resources at this time to acquire the assets of these companies and face this proposal, while stressing that private companies in the sector have invested more than $10 billion to develop our energy park.

He added that this would also send a negative message to the world and would basically be an attack against the policies and legal security of the invested capital. “This is a democratic state, an institutional government and we have to take care of our politics, our system and that is why yesterday we were very clear on this point, which is one of the disagreements that occurred last night,” the senior official pointed out.
