The single dialogue table for Panama continued with the debate on the energy issue after reaching 15 consensuses and 3 dissents on Thursday.
A low and fair price of electricity, coverage throughout the country, quality of supply, compensation for damage or loss of products or merchandise due to the malfunction of the electrical system, verification and public transparency of compliance with contracts and control of the concessionaire companies are part of the topics that are debated.
The profit margins of the distribution companies is another point that is on the table. Also reduce the cost by 45% kilowatts for all Panamanians.
The representatives of the unions raised at the table that the reduction in the cost of energy should not be related to subsidies. But, the representatives of the Government point out that to give themselves an immediate reduction in the cost of the electricity rate, this is the only way they have.
After 6:00 pm on Thursday, the representatives of the alliances and the National Government decided to take a break to discuss the issues in disagreement. They returned three hours later.
As disagreements continued on the issue of lowering the electricity rate, it was agreed to take the issue to a technical subcommittee, but the United People for Life Alliance recommended a contact table to achieve a rapprochement on the five points of disagreement.
They agreed that the contact table would be made up of three representatives from each social movement and the National Government, who would talk for an hour; this was from 10:15 p.m. at 11:15 pm, however, at 2:00 am this Friday, the single table had not resumed the dialogue.
