Since Saturday, an affidavit is no longer required to enter the national territory

The Executive Power decided to advance to Saturday, August 27, the suppression of the obligatory online sworn statement to enter the country. This measure had been implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The health situation today is different and happily we can not require the declaration, but it will be necessary to have the corresponding vaccination,” said the Minister of Tourism, Tabaré Viera.

The Secretary of State stated that the decision had been taken, in the first instance, on Tuesday the 23rd in the ministerial agreement with the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou. “The decree was drawn up and today it was signed,” said Viera.

Likewise, he clarified that although the decree nullifies the obligation to submit the online health affidavit, unvaccinated people must submit a PCR with a negative result to enter the country.

The minister also indicated that many tourists had difficulties making the declaration and did so at the border posts, which delayed the transfer of other passengers, especially to the Argentine Republic.
