The National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) issued this Sunday a prevention notice for the displacement of the tropical cyclone, now already a hurricane IAN.
According to the entity, surveillance and monitoring for strong winds will be maintained throughout the country from Sunday, September 25 to Tuesday, September 27, so that all provinces and maritime sectors will be under warning, but with greater intensity on the Pacific slope.
“Currently this atmospheric system is located far north of Panama, but with maximum winds of 83 km/h with a tendency to increase and will continue to move to Cuba,” he added.
He explained that the tropical cyclone can generate indirect effects in Panama, but rainy events are still expected, accompanied by winds and possible storms.
Significant rains are expected, in the mountainous regions, which will generate swollen rivers, landslides, strong winds and floods.
In regions with soils saturated with water, falling trees, flooding and landslides could occur.
Indicates that it is recommended to the population:
- Try to stay away from trees at risk or areas prone to landslides
- Avoid hiking or camping until normalcy is restored
- Avoid crossing rivers and swollen streams.
