Jalisco New Generation Cartel
Its main leader is Nemesio Oseguera Cervantesaka “El Mencho”, for whom the United States Anti -Drug Agency (DEA) offers a reward of up to 15 million dollars for its capture.
According to Mexican and American authorities, the CJNG gained strength and is also responsible for violence and other crimes in 22 of the 32 entities of the country.
The attack suffered by the then Chief of the Police of Mexico City, Omar García Harfuch, in Paseo de la Reforma Lomas, was attributed to this drug trafficking group.
Gulf cartel
Although it appears on the list of criminal organizations that could be classified as “terrorists”, the Gulf Cartel reached its greatest boom in the 1990s and 2000s, under the leadership of Osiel Cárdenas Guillén, among others.
However, over time, the capture of their financial leaders and operators, as well as the emergence of the Zetas, significantly weakened their structure and operational capacity.
A branch: Northeast Cartel
The Northeast Cartel (CDN) emerged a decade ago as a split of Los Zetas. It has a presence and base in Tamaulipas, but its power extends to Nuevo León, Coahuila, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Veracruz and part of Tabasco.
After the capture of key leaders such as Miguel and Omar Treviño Morales, aka “Z-40” and “Z-42”, respectively, Los Zetas were fragmented, giving rise to the CDN, known for their extreme violence.
According to the DEA, this organization maintains the same modus operandi as its predecessor (Los Zetas) to control strategic territories in northern Mexico.
Among its main criminal activities include kidnapping, extortion and drug trafficking and people, especially migrants, to whom it uses as a source of income.
The Michoacan family
Also known as the new Michoacan family is a criminal organization with a presence in Michoacán, Tierra Caliero de Guerrero, Michoacán, State of Mexico, Morelos and recently, its income and operations were recorded in the mayorships: Tláhuac, Milpa Alta, Xochimilco and Tlalpan de Mexico City.
Although its origin dates from 1980, it was fragmented in two: the Knights Templar, led by drug trafficker Enrique Plancarte “Kike Plancarte” and serving Gomez “La Tuta”.
The other branch continued to simply call the family. He is given the name of a new Michoacan family because in the last three decades, several of their leaders have been captured and new operators have emerged.
Currently the Michoacan family is dedicated to the distribution of drugs in the aforementioned states, as well as to the traffic of weapons, extortion and other crimes.
United Cartels
This organization arises in Michoacán to stop the territory that the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) sought to win in Michoacán and other Pacific and center of the country.
It is called United Cartels since it was an alliance between the Sinaloa cartel, the Gulf Cartel and the Knights Templar.
