The MDB candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Simone Tebet, participated this Thursday morning (22) in a hearing promoted by the newspaper The time and by Rádio Super, from Minas Gerais. As a proposal to boost the generation of formal jobs, if elected, the presidential candidate said that she will propose a temporary reduction in the payment to the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) made by companies.
The exemption, she said, would be valid for two years only for new hires, who receive up to one minimum wage. In the candidate’s assessment, the measure would help to reduce the informality in which there are about 40 million workers in the country. “Today, in order to have a worker with a formal contract, the employer pays 20% of the salary in INSS. So, the proposal is to reduce from 20% to 6%; and to reduce, on the part of the worker, from 7.5% to 3 %. So, I reduce this collection as an incentive for the industry and the goods and services sector to hire with a work card”.
The emedebista also defended her proposal to pay R$ 5 thousand to the student who completes high school in the country. It is estimated that the program will cost around R$ 7 billion per year.
Fiocruz
This Thursday, Simone Tebet also paid a visit to the headquarters of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). Upon leaving, she said that if elected, she will not make budget cuts in the area of science and technology. “Being here at Fiocruz, alongside our colleagues, is to show that our candidacy believes in science, that there will be no shortage of money for science, technology and innovation. And it is a recognition, a thanks from me and Mara Gabrilli [candidata a vice]which we experienced, at the Covid CPI, how important Fiocruz was”, he said. She also defended the exclusion of investments in science and technology from the spending ceiling.
