Silvio Rodríguez starts Friday with a concert in Havana his new tour of Latin America, a tour that feels “how to go to the house of old and dear friends,” he explains.
After three years without getting on stage, the troubadour ensures in writing that he wishes to act live in this series of concerts that are planned to take him to Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and Colombia in what remains of 2025.
“I do it because I feel desires and because I see that doing it I do something good to people who also want it. I also do it because it means work, a very healthy thing in this world,” says Rodríguez.
He assures that “music and words communicate” and “create empathy”, something that makes “a lot of need” today. He also says that it is a “privilege” to “accompany and link.”
The artist emphasizes that he has made a repertoire with classic songs, some of his last album published, I wanted to knowand also certain novelties, songs that will appear in their next study work, which will be called Anyone born in Cuba.
In this series of concerts, Rodríguez will be backed on stage by musicians Emilio Vega (vibraphone), Jorge Aragón (piano), Niurka González (flute and clarinet), Jorge Reyes (double bass), Rachid López (guitar), Maykel Elizarde (guitar) and Oliver Valdés (drums).
The announced tour plan will jump from Cuba to Chile, where the troubadour has not been presented since 2018, and then, in this order, by Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and Colombia, with a date in each country still to be completed.
Rodríguez did not act in Latin America since 2022, when he closed his regional journey with an action in the Zocalo of Mexico City before more than 100,000 people. He had previously made a ten -year tour and more than a hundred concerts for disadvantaged neighborhoods of Cuba.

On his calendar for 2026 Rodríguez, he prefers not to advance certainties, beyond aiming that he may “do it again”, of getting on stage to sing and play the guitar. “I have proposals for Spain and other countries. We’ll see,”
At 78, he says that since he started acting he thinks that each tour can be the last one. “I never considered a ‘scene animal,” he adds.
With about twenty albums over about six decades of career, the author of songs such as “Hopefully” and “Unicorn”, launched his study album in mid -2024 I wanted to knowwith eleven themes of intimate and social letters, shoes with the characteristic seal of their voice and poetic.
Rodríguez, one of the founders of the new Cuban trova, participated in 1968 in the concert that marked the foundation of that artistic movement, along with other musicians who have integrated him as Pablo Milanés, Noel Nicola, Martín Rojas, Eduardo Ramos, Vicente Feliú and Pedro Luis Ferrer.
Since then Rodríguez is one of the members of that group with the greatest impact outside the borders of Cuba. At present it is also one of the scarce that is active.
The new trova mixed the study of the popular roots of Cuban music with politicized letters in the heat of the triumph of the revolution in 1959.
The genre is considered the continuation of previous expressions of the traditional trova and the so -called Filin and became one of the most influential musical movements in Latin America in the second half of the twentieth century.
