The former director of the Federal Highway Police Silvinei Vasques was transferred this Saturday morning (27) from Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná, to Brasília, the Federal Police reported. Convicted in the coup plot, Vasques was awaiting arrest in the city of Paraná after being detained by the Paraguayan police when he tried to flee the country to El Salvador. He was delivered to Brazil on Friday night (26).
Still on Friday, Moraes ordered preventive detention by Silvinei Vasques, after the former director of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) was arrested at Silvio Pettiross International Airport, in Asunción.
The former director was under house arrest, wearing an electronic ankle bracelet, and the measure was determined after breaking the equipment and fleeing to the neighboring country, where he was detained by local authorities when he tried to board a flight to El Salvador.
Moraes pointed out in the decision that he was informed by the Federal Police that the ankle bracelet stopped emitting a GPS signal at around 3 am on Thursday (25). Agents then went to the former director’s house, located in São José, Santa Catarina, and found that he was not at home.
Still on Friday, the PF confirmed that the former director was taken by the Paraguayan police to the border with Brazil and handed over to PF agents at the Ponte da Amizade, which connects Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná, to Ciudad del Leste, in Paraguay.
