Cuban wrestler Oscar Pino, weighing 130 kilograms (kg), today won the silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the Ranking Series tournament that takes place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The native could not prevail in the discussion for the title against the Iranian Amin Mirzazadeh, who dominated him with a score of 2-1.
Pino debuted with an 11-0 (technical superiority) success over Georgian Sulkhan Buidze in the top eight round. And in one of the semifinals he beat Turkish Fatih Boskurt 5-3.
With this result, he was close to his second gold medal in this type of competition.
Last February, during the first Ranking Serie contest hosted by Zagreb, Croatia, the Cuban representative defeated Norwegian Oskar Marvik 7-1 in the fight for the title.
Before Pino had achieved three victories with the same score of 8-0 by ST, to advance to the grand final of his division with perfect pace.
In January, the Cuban won gold at the Grand Prix Henri Deglane, held in the city of Nice, France, where no points were scored.
There he won the crown after a 5-0 victory over the German Franz Richter.
This Thursday, Luis Orta, of the 67 kilos, competed for Cuba, who won one of the bronze medals in his division.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion in the 60 kg, he beat Uzbek Mahmud Bakhshilloev 7-1, thus ensuring his presence on the awards podium.
