Signature campaign launched against paid parking

The campaign will be framed within the constitutional tool of the “popular initiative”where signatures will be gathered so that the Municipal Board of Asunción treats a ordinance that raises the suspension of paid parking until a massive, efficient, quality public transport system is guaranteed, and that covers all branches and 24 hours a day.

The architect Ricardo Meyer maintains that the service proposed in this way is the coup de grace to the city of Asunción and its leisure economy.

For his part, lawyer Jorge Rolón Luna considers that there is no transparency regarding the cost structure of the service to be provided by Parxinbeing something that must be publicized and discussed with the public, due to the possibility of excessive profit at the expense of vehicle owners, most of them hard workers, employees and officials who have no option of a decent and efficient public transport system. to mobilize.

For his part, the trade unionist Federico Ferreira points out that those who will receive the greatest punishment to their pockets will be the workers, especially the workers of deliveries since they carry out their tasks on public roads.

The launch of the collection of signatures will take place on Wednesday, February 1, at 10:00 a.m., at the “Rockero” nightclub.
