Santo Domingo.- During this administration, investment in the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) has been significantly prioritized. Recently, the president inaugurated four new campuses in the capital, and on Sunday, during the Council of Ministers, the construction of a new campus in Santo Domingo Este was announced, as stated by the Minister of Public Administration, Sigmund Freud.
The minister highlighted that Santo Domingo Este has experienced notable growth, becoming the largest municipality in the country. This growth not only justifies the need for a new headquarters, but also seeks to optimize traffic, since around 7,000 vehicles travel daily over the different bridges, transporting students on their way to their classes.
“By bringing the UASD to Santo Domingo Este, we are not only facilitating access to education, but also saving time and transportation costs for students. I believe that the Autonomous University will be one of the most benefited in this process,” explained Sigmund Freud.
The minister also mentioned that the merger of the two ministries of education will allow students to have greater access to scholarships, thanks to the availability of expanded resources. This will also benefit higher education teachers, who will find greater opportunities to continue training and improving their skills.
With these initiatives, the government seeks not only to strengthen higher education in the country, but also to meet the demands of a growing student population, ensuring that young people have access to the academic training necessary to contribute to the development of the country.
