Cuba today receives international solidarity despite the media campaign against the Revolution and the intensified blockade by the United States.
Among the most recent shows of support for the people of the island is the process of collecting medical supplies organized by the Catalan solidarity platform Defensem Cuba and coordinated by the Prat Committee for Solidarity with Central America and the Associació Nou Barris de Barcelona, in Prat de Llobregat.
This third shipment of the campaign “Tons of Solidarity against the blockade of Cuba” in Spain includes a shipment valued at 80 thousand euros.
The friendship associations with the Caribbean island and the members of the Cuban consulate in Barcelona were in charge of preparing the cargo that will leave for Havana.
“Tons of Solidarity against the Blockade of Cuba” is promoted by the MESC (State Movement of Solidarity with Cuba), a coordinating body made up of 58 organizations.
On the other hand, recently a shipment of supplies for the fight against Covid-19 arrived on the island sent by the Solidarity Campaign (CSC) in the United Kingdom.
These are more than 37 thousand ampoules of the muscle relaxant Atracurio for patients with mechanical ventilation.
This is the fifth shipment of medical supplies that has arrived in the Caribbean nation since April 2021 with financing from the CSC, to support efforts to combat the pandemic.
In the last two decades, the Solidarity Campaign raised funds to finance emergency projects and support the Cuban health sector, as well as supply school materials and others, reported the Caribbean Foreign Ministry website.
Cuba recently received from the Government of Belarus a donation consisting of medicines, powdered milk and canned meat, which will support the fight against the pandemic and the coercive measures of the United States.
The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, thanked on several occasions the help of solidarity countries and organizations, which arrived amid the island’s efforts for its development amid the intensification of the United States blockade.
The most recent donations also came from Russia and Japan, as well as from the American organizations Puentes de Amor, Code Pink and The People’s Forum.
