PUERTO SILVER.- A 39-year-old man is torn between life and death in a health center after being shot in a shooting between drug traffickers in the municipality of Sosua.
The injured person is Miguel de la Rosa (The Beard), who is in serious condition after receiving several bullet wounds in a violent incident that occurred at the old Palm Village Hotel in that tourist town.
Versions of this case state that the attackers arrived in a white Hyundai Sonata car and opened fire on “La Barba” during a dispute between drug traffickers who illegally occupied the abandoned complex.
The old Palm Village Hotel located in the El Batey sector of the municipality of Sosúa, is a place that for decades has been occupied by unseemly people, the vast majority of whom are dedicated to micro-drug trafficking, who have turned the area into a focus of violence and a risk for tourism.
Likewise, it was learned that the subjects who injured Miguel de la Rosa (La Barba), after the shooting that caused a lot of panic in that perimeter of the heart of Jesús, fled quickly and quickly from the place, leaving the car abandoned.
So far, the police and judicial authorities are investigating the event and are on the trail of the gunmen who escaped, but there are three people detained for investigation purposes.
In this sense, locals from Sosúa warn that the Palm Village Hotel, abandoned years ago by its owners, was invaded by hundreds of people who today live in precarious conditions and where several drug points operate.
“That hotel has become no man’s land. All kinds of people live there and the Police enter with caution because there is crime and drug sales. Sosúa does not deserve that in the middle of the tourist center,” said residents of El Batey.
