The attack, unprecedented in this stage of Argentine democracy, deserved the immediate repudiation of ministerslegislators, high-ranking political leaders of the opposition and the ruling party, unions and personalities from different sectors, who asked for the case to be clarified.
The attack was captured in images taken by Public Television in the vicinity of the former president’s home, while the aggressor, identified as Fernando Andre Sabag MontielHe was detained by agents of the Federal Police.
In one of the images released, it is clearly seen when the Vice President had just gotten out of a car to enter her home and a weapon was close to her head. In the image it seems that the aggressor tries to shoot.
President Albert Fernandez considered the event as “the most serious” since the return of democracy and declared this Friday a national holiday “so that in peace and harmony the people can express themselves in defense of life and democracy and in solidarity with our Vice President.”
The head of state gave a speech on national television a few minutes after midnight, while the chief of staff, Juan Manzur, summoned a cabinet meeting for 8.30.

The individual was arrested by the custodians of the head of the Senate and then taken to a police cell phone, where he covered his face with a coat, according to what was broadcast on television.
Minutes after the event, the Ministry of Security confirmed through a statement that a “man would be armed” and that “he was identified by arresting him on Juncal and Uruguay streets.”
A few meters from the scene, a Bersa brand .32 caliber weapon was found, which had bullets and was suitable for firing. According to investigations by the Argentine Federal Police, the pistol had five bullets in its magazine.
The Security Minister, Aníbal Fernández, in dialogue with the C5N channel, explained that the detained person “had a weapon” and that he was initially detained “by custody personnel.”

Among other members of the cabinet, the head of the ministers, Juan Manzur and officials Sergio Massa (Economy) and Aníbal Fernández (Security) joined the repudiation, which was joined by deputies and senators from different political parties.
