Agents of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry seized a shipment of 201 packages, presumably cocaineduring an inspection in the municipality of Pepillo Salcedo (Manzanillo), in the province of Montecristi.
The shipment was destined for the port of Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
In a press conference held this Sunday in Santiago, Carlos Devers, spokesman for the institution anti-narcoticsindicated that the authorities were alerted for the security of the company Northern Plantationsclose to the Manzanillo dock, due to suspicious movements in the loading area.
“After receiving the information, the agents proceeded to intervene in a container that was loaded with lemons for export. Inside the building, they found 29 contaminated boxes containing 201 packages of the illicit substance,” Devers said.
For this fact, he arrested a man identified as Ramon Rodriguezwho was placed at the disposal of the jurisdiction of Permanent Attention of the province of Montecristi, while the packages of the substance were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) in Santiago, to determine the type and exact weight of the shipment.
