Santo Domingo.- Ship suppliers demanded today in front of the National Congress that the bill of maritime trade who attends the Chamber of Deputiesea taken to public view to be reviewed and modified.
With banners in their hands and slogans alluding to the cause, they denounced that the piece contradicts the Constitution of the Republic, as well as Law 70-70, which creates the Dominican Port Authority; the General Environmental Law (Law 64-00); Foreign Investment Law of the Dominican Republic (Law 16-95); and General Law for the Defense of Competition (Law 42-08).
“We call on President Luis Abinader, Mr. Alfredo Pacheco, our honorable legislators to send the project to public hearing, because if they do not, it would threaten the security of the ports, it takes away the inherent functions for more than 50 years. to our practical pilots, giving those functions to the captains and putting the infrastructure of the ports at risk”, they stated.
The group of ship suppliers denounced that the legislation threatens 57 Mipymes companies and the survival of more than four thousand jobs.
The maritime trade bill was already approved in the Senate in the last legislature, so if it is not approved before next Tuesday, when the current legislature expires, it will expire. The piece is a proposal by senators Alexis Victoria Yeb (PRM) and Félix Bautista (FP).
