The presidency of the Chamber of Deputies, headed by Carlos María López (PLRA-Cordillera), confirmed the holding of an extraordinary session, today, Monday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m., to study the request for impeachment of the defender of the town, Miguel Godoy.
The communication from the President of the Deputies mentions the note raised by his colleagues, requesting the convening of an extraordinary session in order to deal with the Draft Resolution “For which an accusation is made before the Honorable Chamber of Senators, against the defender of the people, Mr. Miguel Godoy Servín, for the purpose of establishing the political trial provided for in article 225 of the National Constitution.”
UNCERTAINTY
With the bench of “Honor Colorado” made up of 25 deputies, it has already established a position for the rejection of the trial. With which there are only 55 legislators who could vote in favor. Bearing in mind that a two-thirds majority (53 votes) is needed for the approval of a political trial, the margin that Godoy’s opponents have is only two votes to get the trial approved.
Walter Harms, national deputy for “Honor Colorado”, said that they had already made a decision as a bench not to remove him. “There is an interest of progressives to get spaces. We do not accompany the trial”, he commented.
The extraordinary session will be exclusively in person.
LAST ATTACKS
In a video recorded by Miguel Godoy himself, he is heard describing Kattya González as “clumsy” for the arguments cited in the accusatory libel that seeks to remove him via impeachment. “A notary will make a record of all the stupid things that she is going to say and after that we will promote a civil lawsuit and a criminal complaint, no matter if it lasts 10 years. But those G. 9,000 million that she has in her estate I’m going to take out. I’m going to work on that lawsuit as the demand of my life. I’m going to beat them in all three instances, I’m too much of a lawyer for them”, he commented. This was denounced by González during the last ordinary session of the Chamber of Deputies.
The deputies who signed the libel were Renato and Tito Ibarrola, Eusebio Alvarenga, Carlos López, Celeste Amarilla, Norma Camacho, Kattya González, Sebastián Villarejo, Sebastián García, Rocío Vallejo, Hugo Ramírez, Fernando Oreggioni, Juan Ayala, Ariel Villagra, Teófilo Espínola, Emilio Pavón and Rodrigo Blanco.
