For the first time, a head of the Executive will meet with the more than 2,500 municipal presidents in the country in order to discuss issues inherent to city councils, such as water projects, social infrastructure and security.
In her morning conference yesterday – the last of the year – President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported the above and added that perhaps it is the first time that a president meets with the municipal presidents
.
He pointed out that the meeting will take place in mid-January, although he ruled out that it could be in the National Palace, due to the number of attendees. I think we’re going to look for another place.
.
He mentioned that the meeting will discuss at least three topics: one is how to execute the social infrastructure contribution fund from 2025 onwards, which has a part dedicated to indigenous peoples. How should we build this budget from now on?
.
A second point will be to establish agreements so that there is a sum of the municipal, state and federal budgets in order to, for example, develop drinking water works and allocate them to the same plans.
You must have a budget for the next three years, to be able to make a joint one and solve any problem related to the supply of drinking water and so that not each resource is applied to different issues.
Thirdly, the president said, in the meeting with the country’s municipal presidents, security issues in the communities will be analyzed.
“Just as we did at the time in Mexico City, our objective – and it is voluntary for municipal presidents – is that these safe paths are built, these paths of peace, that they have a comprehensive urban improvement, that they have more lighting, urban murals dedicated to each of the characteristics of the municipality.”
The head of the Executive considered that if public resources are integrated, there could be urban improvements in the country and this will contribute to better security conditions.
On the other hand, he reiterated that in due course he will send an initiative to Congress to avoid re-election and nepotism in elected positions.
