Ignacio Mier Velazco, vice coordinator of the Morenoist senators, said that at the meeting they talked about maintaining unity in the so-called ”Fourth Transformation”.
“It was an invitation to stay united, to work together, conclude what is pending in legislative matters and work next year with the greatest certainty that Mexico will do well,” he explained as he left the National Palace.
Karen Castrejón Trujillo, national leader of the Green Party, said that her legislators reiterated their commitment to continue supporting President Claudia Sheinbaum’s reforms.
The most recent reform proposed by Sheinbaum and approved was the one that increases prison sentences for people who commit the crime of extortion.
The meeting at the National Palace also takes place days before seven years have passed since Andrés Manuel López Obrador became President of Mexico.
