Sheinbaum shows "muscle" in the Zócalo, defends the achievements of the 4T and issues a warning

López Obrador used to call for celebrations every December 1 to commemorate the beginning of his government. However, this weekend, although the official excuse was the same, there was another reason: to demonstrate the “muscle” of support for President Sheinbaum. This occurred after, weeks ago, a group of young people mobilized to demand greater security in a country where, year after year, there are more than 20,000 intentional homicides. With the arrival of Q4, the figure even reached a new record, as 30,000 murders were exceeded.

The generation “Z” movement made noise in the government of the president, who not only discredited it and linked it with political parties, but also tried to respond with massive mobilization.

That episode is so present that at the beginning of his speech he sent a message to the youth: “I greet with joy the young people who decided to march and join us this day in this square. Let no one make a mistake, let it be heard well, loud and far away:The young people are in the vast majority with the transformation of public life in Mexico!”

To comply with the president, the Morena structure and its governors organized to fill the Zócalo. Since Saturday afternoon, buses left from different parts of the country to transport attendees to the first capital event.

Preparations for the party were announced last November, when a group of young people called for the Tiger March, a movement to support the first woman to govern Mexico, however, the call changed and ended only in a massive rally.

From her morning in the National Palace, the president clarified that she would not march as López Obrador did in 2023; She would only come out to make a speech to celebrate what the 4T has achieved in seven years.

Some gatherings came to the Angel of Independence, but they were few. The mobilization was far from that postcard when López Obrador walked along Paseo de la Reforma, Avenida Juárez and 5 de Mayo, in response to the Pink Tide movement, although he then assured that it was to celebrate five years of the transformation.

“You are not alone”, “It is an honor to be with Claudia today” and “Claudia, understand, the people defend you” were some of the slogans raised by the citizens who attended the third massive mobilization called by the president in her first year in office.

The other two were in March to report on the Mexico Plan, regarding the United States’ tariff policy, and in October to celebrate the first year of his government.

A few hours after returning to Mexico after his trip to the United States, where he met with Donald Trump, president of the United States, and Mark Carney, prime minister of Canada, Sheinbaum stepped onto the Zócalo to greet his people. She was cuddled with hugs, greetings and words of encouragement.
