Tension with mayor
A few hours after the head of government Claudia Sheinbaum went to the Monument to the Revolution to render her Fourth Report, as part of her tour of the 16 demarcations, the mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Sandra Cuevas, criticized that the capital’s president seeks an approach with the opposition.
According to Cuevas, this is a strategy of the president of the capital because of her political aspirations towards 2024.
The mayor was interviewed when leaving the orality rooms of the North Prison, where a judge acquitted her of charges of aggravated robbery, abuse of authority and discrimination for the alleged attack on elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security.
Cuevas accused that the criminal proceedings initiated against him last February had its origin from the office of the head of government, which caused – he added – tension between the City Hall and the opposition mayors.
“I do not have the problem with the head of government, it has been the other way around, the problem is with the opposition mayors since she lost nine mayoralties, which I do want to make clear and I say it with great respect and with great force, Claudia Sheinbaum, head of government, you will never be president of this country”, said the mayor.
