From Zacatecas, where she began her joint tour with President López Obrador, the virtual president promised to govern close to the Mexican people.
This weekend’s tour between the two politicians, in addition to Zacatecas, includes San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Querétaro and Michoacán. This is the sixth visit they have made to entities in the country to evaluate works and the progress of social programs.
Sheinbaum recalled that her government will be in charge of building the second floor of the so-called Fourth Transformation.
“That means continuity of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s delegate, continuity in the principles of the president’s government, in the principles of our movement, that principle that says, ‘For the good of all, the poor first.’ Our government will have that principle of ‘for the good of all, the poor first,’ the principle of eradicating corruption,” he explained.
He added that the resources saved by fighting corruption will benefit Mexicans, since his will be a government of and for the people.
“Continuity also means continuing with the Welfare Programs. We are going to continue with the pension support program for all senior citizens in our country; to continue with the support, the pension, for all people with disabilities; the scholarships for high school students, boys, girls; the Sembrando Vida program,” he announced.
To the farmers of Zacatecas, he offered dialogue, continued support for the countryside and the possibility of recovering the National Bean Seed Production Company.
“We are going to talk with everyone, with the goal of building the Milpillas Dam together, so that there is water for the fields, always talking, but so that there is water for the fields and also water for human consumption, so that we do not always depend on the rains; to make the fields more technical, to support them so that there is always productivity, we even discussed in the morning the possibility of recovering the National Seed Production Company for Beans, to support all the bean farmers here in Zacatecas with seeds,” he said.
Speaking at the polls, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said the opposition was taken by surprise by Claudia Sheinbaum’s overwhelming victory because they live in a bubble.
“The reactionary conservatives say they are surprised because our movement’s candidate, now president, won 36 million votes across the country by more than 30%, she even beat me, she got more votes than I did, they say ‘what the hell happened?’ They are in another world, in a bubble, they have no communication with the people, they don’t understand the feelings of the people, they don’t respect the people, much less love the people, that’s why they were surprised, because they had no reason to think that the people would continue supporting more of the same, that is, more corruption, more poverty, more humiliation, more classism, more racism. To hell with it!
