“It was a good year”
When taking stock of 2024, the president highlighted that it was a great year in which The first stage of the transformation concluded.
“2024 closed and it was a good year for the people of Mexico, first because it closed a cycle: the first phase of the country’s transformation, with the best president Mexico has ever had, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador,” he recalled.
He added that in 2024, Mexicans decided that the transformation governments will continue so that there would be no regressions, nor that corruption would return.
“The people of Mexico said loud and clear ‘let the transformation continue’ and, for the first time in history, the people of Mexico also made an important decision: that a woman become president after 200 years of Mexican Independence” , he highlighted.
He added that 2025 will be a historic year because, for the first time, Mexico will elect the members of the Judiciary.
“For the first time in history and as the only country that does so, among all of us, we are going to elect judges, magistrates, ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, we must be very attentive and Pay attention because on June 1st of this year there will be a vote for the first time to elect the Judiciary,” he said.
He rejected that the implementation of the Judicial Reform implies authoritarianism as opposition politicians have mentioned.
“Authoritarianism is governments that do not allow freedoms, democracy, freedom of expression, or freedom of assembly. How is it going to be authoritarian for the people to decide? Democracy is precisely the power of the people,” he pointed out.
This weekend, the president is on a work tour through the center of the country to deliver the first cards to beneficiaries of the Women’s Pension in the State of Mexico, Puebla and Hidalgo.
