“On the contrary: the energy transition has to be part of the strengthening of the electricity company, of the Federal Electricity Commission, and it has to be part of an energy sovereignty project and a project of social benefit, of social justice; if not, it would not be an energy sustainability project”, he said, after presenting the progress of works at the Hydrothermal Carbonization Plant in Bordo Poniente.
The president put the plant, which will process organic waste to convert it into clean fuel, as an example of the actions towards sustainable energy by the governments led by Morena.
“It is false that the electricity reform that the President of the Republic has presented is promoting fossil fuels or dirty energies, and this is the demonstration that we believe in the energy transition,” he said.
“This is a demonstration that we believe in renewable energy and that we are developing it jointly from the city government together with the Secretary of Energy and the Federal Electricity Commission.”
Sheinbaum thanked the assistance of federal deputies, especially Jorge Álvarez Máynez, coordinator of Movimiento Ciudadano, who has criticized López Obrador’s reform proposal.
“For us, this electrical reform is not only a fundamental part of the nation’s future, but also a fundamental part of this energy transition process,” said the president.
This is at least the third time that the head of government has spoken out in defense of the electricity reform proposed by the president.
