It is false that there are drones raids of the Central American Intelligence Agency (CIA) in national territory and also that water has been used for the consumption of Mexicans to comply with the 1944 Water Treaty between Mexico and the United States, said President Claudia Sheinbaum, who reiterated that with that country there is collaboration and coordination, but without subordination. “It has to be very clear to everyone. We will never put our sovereignty or independence at risk.”
He added: “Mexico is a free, sovereign and independent country. We will never allow the United States army or any other institution to step on national territory.”
He stressed that there are several issues on the binational agenda with the US government. One is migration, about what reported that until yesterday the Mexico Consulate in Miami had interviewed 81 nationals held in the Alcatraz migrant detention center.
He emphasized his opposition that there are such prisons, as well as discrimination. The consul Rutilio Escandón maintains permanent communication with the detainees, and in parallel they work to leave there in a few days, he said during the conference in the National Palace.
Some of the national nationals want to start a trial in the United States to avoid being deported, so the consulate is also responsible for providing them legal support. Also, he added, those who want to return to Mexico have assistance for that purpose. The president said that so far there are no reports of human rights violations of Mexicans in that detention center.
On the alleged incursion of Drones of the CIA, he explained that if at this time an aircraft arrived in national territory, it would be only under some coordination scheme, and provided that permission has previously been requested from Mexico in the frames of the current agreements.
“It is not something new. There is the possibility of a particular collaboration for some case. It has been done in special conditions,” he said.
Sovereign treatment
For other issues that are addressed in the relationship with Washington are the work tables on security, where the principles on which coordination are based are established, with respect to sovereignty, and territorial integrity. “It is based,” he said – on mutual trust, collaboration and coordination, without subordination. “
These are the principles and the permanent insistence that the United States solves the problem of drug use, including fentanyl. If the causes are not attended, he said, for more soldiers that are arranged at the border, that will continue. It is also responsible for attending the issue of weapons that cross Mexico, he said.
