At the same event, the Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado, also questioned the protest held in the capital and stated that some political actors seek to manipulate the youth.

“There in Mexico City, those who tried to march… there are some who want to deceive young people by hiring millions of bots to try to use them, for their own purposes, so that privileges and corruption return,” he said.

The secretary also stated that “while they spend millions on bots, our president distributes millions of scholarships so that young people can exercise their right to study.”

“While those call to fill the streets, our president calls to fill the schools,” he said.

He added that, in response to those who “call for violence,” a culture of peace and non-violence is taught in schools.

The head of the SEP stated that the current student generation should not be defined by external labels, but by the educational opportunities they receive today.

“This is the generation of the Rita Cetina scholarship, the Benito Juárez scholarship, the generation of more scholarship recipients and more university students; the generation of the national high school,” he concluded.
