Sheinbaum: CDMX Electoral Tribunal exceeds its functions in the case of the IECM

“The Constitution of the Republic and the Constitution of Mexico City are very clear that it is the exclusive attribution of the Congress of the Union –particularly of the Chamber of Deputies– to define the budgets and approve them, the expenditure budget of the federation or the budget of discharges from Mexico City. The Electoral Court would not have to be intervening in these cases”, indicated the president at a press conference, when questioned on the subject.

This July 7 is the last day for the Government of the capital to comply with the sentence and grant the IECM the resources with respect to the budget assigned to it in 2019, which was 1,400 million pesos, which represents approximately 199 million additional to what It was delivered this 2022.

Sheinbaum maintained that the matter may reach the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN).

“In fact, we presented it at the time before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation because it is not correct for the Court to define budgets, it is to completely exceed its constitutional functions,” he assured.
