In her morning conference, Sheinbaum recalled that in what will be the first election of judges, magistrates and ministers there will be no financing for campaigns as happens in other electoral processes, so the INE, the president insisted, should explain how it will spend the resources. assigned and why it has assured that modifications are required because the resources will not be enough.
He said that 7,000 million pesos for the election – as proposed by the INE – represent an amount greater than what was invested, for example, in the cablebus in Mexico City, twice the elevated trolleybus or investments in roads.
“It is much more than what more than half of the states receive in their annual investment, so, if these 7,000 million pesos are given… if they require more resources, why do they require more resources? So, it is not just saying I need 10,000 million pesos, but why do you need 10,000 million pesos?
This week, the Chamber of Deputies approved the 2025 Expenditure Budget, in which a cut of 13,476 million pesos was applied to the INE’s budget. The president of the INE, Guadalupe Taddei, commented that it is feasible to request an increase in its budget.
He indicated that the cut will imply that not 172,000 booths will be installed, each one close to the voter, but around 80,000, and located three or five blocks away.
“They gave us less, we have to make an adjustment, but we are not going to reduce quality. We are not going to take shortcuts to comply,” added counselor Norma Irene de la Cruz.
