Since last October, the Ministry of Economy organized public debates in the 32 states with different productive sectors to learn about their concerns about the USMCA. These consultations concluded in November.
From these tables, the agency agreed to design a document that unifies Mexico’s position, and deliver it to the president in January and also to the Senate.
“A consultation was held on the treaty, the document for this consultation is already ready and the Secretary of the Economy will also present it soon,” Sheinbaum declared this Tuesday.
The president said that the path towards the review of the USMCA, in which Mexico, the United States and Canada will participate, does not present obstacles.
“We are doing well, this year the issue of the treaty, of the review, will be closed, because it is not a renegotiation, it is only a review, and it is very advanced, even with all the circumstances that the Government of the United States has raised today,” he stated.
