MADRID, Spain.- A 17-year-old boy was attacked by a shark off the coast of Majana, in the Cuban province of Artemisa.
The boy was fishing with relatives at the time of the event, which occurred this weekend. The relatives rescued him and communicated with the emergency system, so when they reached the shore the ambulance was already there, the local media reported. The Artemisian.
He was first taken to the Ciro Redondo Provincial Hospital, where he was given first aid and underwent surgery.
As Niurka de la Caridad Larrionda Valdés, director of Ciro Redondo, explained, the young man “arrived in shock and with a lot of blood loss.”

Then he entered the room for complex surgery for severe vascular and arm and forearm damage. After undergoing surgery and already with a favorable evolution, he was transferred to the Juan Manuel Márquez hospital in the capital, “since his situation requires the intervention of specialists in Angiology, Orthopedics and Traumatology.”
