The National Guard (GN) shared its genetic data bank with the National Search Commission, thereby increasing the possibility of identifying a greater number of disappeared persons by comparing the records of the victims’ relatives.

In a press release the signing of an agreement between both institutions was announced, that will allow legality and traceability to the process of transfer and that will make it possible to identify matches between the DNA records of citizens who report the disappearance of a relative and the biometric information in the GN database, which integrates thousands of genetic profiles that will strengthen the search for missing persons in the country, a priority action of the government of Mexico.

The delivery-reception of the data bank was carried out at the facilities of the General Scientific Directorate of the GN, after the technical-legal feasibility of sharing the files collected by this public security institution during the actions it carries out was analyzed. in different research areas.
