Sew: "Number portability neither goes nor comes to me"

The mayor of Montevideo, Carolina Cosseparticipated this Sunday in San José in an activity for the Yes to the referendum against the 135 articles of the Law of Urgent Consideration (LUC).

There she was consulted at a press conference about the first results of number portability that show favorable numbers for Antel, with the incorporation of new clients.

Cosse downplayed the issue. “Number portability neither goes nor comes to me. I care about the context in which it is, which is much more serious. I am much more concerned that there is discretion in how to pay suppliers and that is in the 135 articles of the LUC that we want to repeal,” he said, as reported by Telemundo.

And added that “Anything that leaves discretion open weakens the democratic framework and diminishes transparency.” “Then I am concerned about public companies that do not have a strategic project, that does concern me,” said the mayor.

In the first three weeks of application of number portability, Antel was the only one of the three telephone companies that had a positive balance of customers who used the tool to change companies without losing their number.

According to data held by the authorities, closed as of February 1, Antel had a positive net balance of some 1,100 clients counting income and expenses through number portability.
