The Management of the Dr. Ney Arias Lora Traumatological University Teaching Hospital, reports that on the first Christmas holiday, the health center attended 412 patients with injuries due to traffic accidents on the days 24, 25 and 26 of December.
Dr. Julio Landrón, general director, explained that during the holiday, 72 patients were admitted, for an increase of 15%.
The specialist expressed that the main injuries presented by the patients include severe craniocephalic trauma, hip fractures, femur fracture, proximal tibia fracture, ankle fracture and open tibia fractures.
“In relation to the 24th and 25th of last year, we had approximately the same number of injured patients and admissions primarily on the 25th and 26th,” said Landrón.
Likewise, the director of Ney Arias Lora expressed concern about high-impact accidents, such as the case recorded in Punta de Villa Mella, where a woman collided with three young people, killing one, a 22-year-old, while she was receiving assistance and another. of the 21-year-old affected, lost 10 centimeters of the distal part of the femur during the accident, who will undergo a second surgical intervention this Friday, whose prognosis remains delicate.
The director of the trauma center pointed out that together with the medical team, the usual rounds were carried out at the hospital, to supervise the health status of the patients and validate that authorizations are expedited for surgical procedures.
“We thank the Insurance SeNaSasince actively all the patients who were admitted on the 24th and 25th already have their authorization to be taken to the surgery room between this afternoon and tomorrow, with the aim of being discharged at the end of the week and thus guarantee timely care and we can have the greatest number of beds available for the New Year holiday,” Landrón highlighted.
Dr. Landrón reiterates to the population to respect traffic laws to avoid injuries and deaths due to traffic accidents.
