From this Friday, April 29, starting at 10:00 p.m. until Saturday, April 30, at 6:00 p.m., several communities in the capital and San Miguelito will be without water, due to works to expand the Federico Guardia Conte water treatment plant, in Chilibre, to be carried out by the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN)
Due to these works, there will be low supply in low points and there will be a lack of drinking water in the high points of Panama City: via Tumba Muerto, via Transístmica, Clayton, La Locería, Betania, Los Ángeles, Miraflores, Altos de Miraflores, Dos Mares, Villa de las Fuentes 1 and 2, Santa María, Hato Pintado, San Francisco, Carrasquilla, Bella Vista, Altos de Panamá, Pueblo Nuevo, Levefre Park, Río Abajo, El Cangrejo and El Dorado.
The high points of the district of San Miguelito, Panama North from Las Cumbres to Buena Vista and all the remote sectors of the network that comprise Panama East from Pedregal to Siesta de Tocumen will also be affected.
The supply to hospitals, polyclinics and health centers will be provided through tank cars as part of the contingency plan in conjunction with the MECO company.
On the other hand, tomorrow, April 28, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, the water supply will be affected in: Bejuco, Chame, Gorgona, Coronado, Punta Barco Nuevo and Punta Barco Viejo. This affectation is due to the fact that technical personnel will be carrying out urgent maintenance work on the Chame Water Treatment Plant in order to guarantee the quality of the treated water.
IDAAN recommends that customers take the necessary measures to avoid shortages and thus prevent their regular activities from being affected.
