Seven people, including two children, died in a car accident that took place yesterday (16) at night, in Ouro Preto (MG).
According to the Fire Department, at least four vehicles collided at km 88 of Highway BR-356, which connects Zona da Mata Mineira to the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo.
According to witnesses heard by the Military Police (PM), the accident may have been caused by the recklessness of a driver who would have tried to overtake in a prohibited stretch.
At least eight other people were injured and were rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), having been taken to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Ouro Preto.
In addition to military firefighters, police officers from the Highway Patrol Command, from the PM, and Samu employees, the event also mobilized brigade members from Itabirito, an ambulance from the Ouro Preto city hall and tow trucks that removed the vehicles from the highway.
Vehicle traffic in the vicinity of the accident site was interrupted for almost six hours, having been released late in the evening.
