73% of Argentine consumers prioritized sustainable products when shopping for Christmas, according to a market study carried out by the National Center for Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Capital (Cenarsecs) of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). ).
“While only 5.3% said they never take these issues into consideration, an overwhelming 46% responded that they always or almost always consider these issues when doing their Christmas shopping; and 26.7% said they do. on some occasions,” the report noted.
Likewise, the survey -carried out between December 7 and 15- indicates that almost 75% of the consumers consulted throughout the country expressed that they are willing to pay more for these sustainable products from companies that give back to society.
In this sense, the greatest willingness to pay extra is evident in centennials (18 to 27 years old), 81%, and in millennials (28 to 40), 82%, specified the director of the study, Julián D’Angelo.
Boomers (58 to 77) complete the categories, with 70% positive responses, Generation X, with 73.6%.
In addition, one in five respondents answered that indeed on other occasions they had already prioritized buying sustainable products in most of their purchases, even if they have had to pay an extra price for it.
Meanwhile, only 10.8% responded that they did not plan to make any reduction in their Christmas shopping expenses due to the increase in prices due to inflation, while the remaining 89.2% plan to make some kind of savings.
D’Angelo indicated that there is a greater tendency to save in women, where 52% responded that they would reduce their expenses in all or most of the consumptions; on the other hand, in men this number was 40%.
